Thomas County Inmate Visitation
Thomas County jail visitation is kiosk-based. The sheriff visitation page states that visits run Monday through Friday through lobby kiosks only. Each visitor is allowed 15 minutes unless there are no pending visits. If another visitor arrives and the active visit has lasted at least 15 minutes, the visit will be terminated. Visitors must create an account and present state-issued identification, with special ID rules for visitors under 14.

Thomas County Inmate Mail
Mail should be labeled with the inmate name, Thomas County Jail, 275 N Court Ave, Colby KS 67701. Outside items such as clothes, stamps, and toiletries are not accepted because items are available through commissary. Prescription medication may be brought in only if prescribed by a doctor, correctly labeled by the pharmacy, and still sealed. Tylenol, aspirin, and IBU can be bought from the office.
Inmates use a separate phone system to call out. Staff cannot transfer incoming calls to inmates and cannot give messages by policy. Phone cards from outside cannot be brought in and will not work on the inmate phone system. These rules make the inmate account balance important because the sheriff page states inmate calls and messages depend on money in the account.
Note: A visitor who was in custody for more than book-and-release in the last 30 days can be denied visitation.
Thomas County Inmate Money
The Sheriff's Office states there are only three ways inmates can receive money on their accounts. Deposits support commissary and also affect calls and messages. Families should not rely on callers who demand urgent bond payments. The sheriff homepage displayed a bail-bond scam alert about calls from people pretending to be Thomas County officials or bondsmen and claiming a loved one can be released if bail is paid.
